Left. The final turn onto Manistique River Rd is LEFT.
So the UP has had less rainfall than the last 15 years or something crazy like that and it turns out, as majestic as my cabin is, the people who first built it dug the well and once they hit water they must have said, "Ahhh, thats far enough." So due to a shallow well, we will NOT have running water this year! YAY! This truly will be a "fuck the REAL world weekend". No showers! Don't worry ladies, you won't have to poop in the woods, we can flush with buckets of water from the river. So bring a big fresh water thing with a nozzle so you can wash your face and teeth! Paper plates and PAPER cups are a smart thing, plastic not so smart since we can't burn plastic. Remember we have to cart all of our trash out with us. I am going up Thursday night so you will no be able to reach me around 8 pm Thursday night. So call me before that if you have questions.
Directions
75 North to the bridge
After the bridge look for highway 2 West. Take that for about 65 miles to highway 77. Make a right (North M-77) and take that about 8 miles or so and look for Manistique River Rd. Make a left. It will be cement for about 1/4 mile then it will be dirt. My cabin is around 7.2 miles from that turn, and it will be on the left, right after what seems to be a turnaround spot (a widening). I will put something out for you to see, who knows what that will actually be. Call me with questions and I will see you up there!

I'm back! Did I win? I waited the longest to blog right? Well I would like to say this is the only picture I brought back from Ibiza but I had to steal this one from the internet since they lost my F'n luggage and my real x-ray is in my bag. Now that was 6 days ago and they are sure they are going to find it any minute now, so I'm not worried. Till then I can use Brians belt, my old beat to hell work shoes, and style my hair with syrup ("you smell nice today Derek"). The trip was fun, I got sick ( a few times), "hurt" my ankle, spent ALL (yes ALL) of my money, but had a great time. So you don't have to ask in person, I drank in Spain. That's it. Did I sight see? Learn anything about the culture? Nope. Sorry, we went out, ate great food, floated on boats and drank. Since I woke up at night, partied till noon, and slept all day, I didnt think I would be jet lagged. But here I am, finally blogging at 330 am when I have to be up at 645am. Why? Can't sleep. Too awake or lonely, or a little of both. Z is in another state (dont know which one, wasn't listening is what he would say) so I have the house to myself. I read my last post and it said, did you hear Justin proposed? Did you hear Ryan proposed?" and I thought, "Ok, now you can blog. So those who haven't heard, Jdub had the worlds future drumming prodigy named Cole Axel Whitaker. He is healthy and from what I hear very cute. I plan on meeting him this week. Just so ya know, FUCK THE REAL WORLD weekend is either going to be a small group, or moved into November. Either way I will be discussing further with everyone about when are good times to go and have good times. I wonder if anyone even comes here anymore. I bet the ironically named non drinker, Bruski, leaves the first comment. Love them gov jobs with internet. Scott, time for another man date, I have to get rid of my mohawk for work! Hope all of you are happy...ish.

I haven't blogged in a while so here's the update on whats new. I leased a new Nissan Altima cause it's cheap and it's easy driving. I worked a dealer as low as possible then I went to another dealer and made em beat the deal. So for less then 2 benjamins a month, I don't have to worry about spontanious combustion or my brakes taking a break when I need them most. I also broke my rib wrestling with my friends Johnnie and Jack. Them guys are tough! So when is the next "bring the gang together" shin dig? Eckler hung out last night and we had fun. BOOBIES! Thanks for making the drive my man! So did everyone hear Ryan proposed to Megan? Did everyone hear Justin proposed to his girlfriend? Did everyone hear Chad proposed to Heika? It's going to be another wedding filled year. Well, I be missin everyone, hope things rock for ya!

What a coo car. That would be fun to drive around the beaten streets of Redford in. Don't get me wrong, my Grand Am-it is sweet too, but I don't like the window switches in the middle of the car. Some things can remain traditional. If fact, I believe this car has manual windows. So I want everyone to know I love my job. It is so cool that it makes it easy to get up in the morning regardless how many bottles of fermented grapes or distilled grain I pushed through my system hours earlier. I'm also not broke (super broke at least) anymore. I can pay my bills without relying on a calculator to protect me from the bank's NSF charges. So life is pretty good. Finally got a cable modem and ditched the DSL so maybe the lack of internet frustration will inspire me to return to this web log three or four times as often.
So the Halloween party was bad azz! Super bad azz. I had lots of fun and from what I could tell so did a lot of other people. No fights, no stolen items, no major damage, and no poop stains anywhere. I know what you are thinking, if there are no poop stains anywhere how fun could this party have been? Well somehow it managed to entertain without the pleasent presence of nutrient drained food. We went through well over $200 in liquor, a keg, plenty of green stuff, and a couple bottles of wine. The best part was seeing all the people I don't get to see, although Lori and Scott and his hot sister snuck out without saying goodbye to me. But you guys probably stayed till 4 am and it just seemed early to me since I didn't sleep. Thanks to everyone that came, I had fun and I hope you did too. So here we go again. I'm sitting on the toilet, got some friends over, figured I'd update my blog. My life hasn't changed much. I'm on a new diet, its called fasting. I try not to eat anything. Being as I love food, I cheat all the time. But when I cheat, it is usually healthy because I can't eat bad food when I shouldn't eat anything. So now when I cheat, its a little bit of raw fish or some fruit. Regular Oatmeal with no sugar or creme has been my breakfast, and multi vitamins have come in handy. Unhealthy? I feel great. Went to work and wasn't tired all day, for the first time ever! Lots of energy for working out and it's been great. Except that the one thing that has always made me happy is now gone (eating fat). I have also moved up in my duties at work. ( I said doodie) Soon I will be at the position promised me and I will finally have enough money to pay all my bills. Till next time, peace out bitches!

So, haven't surfed much lately, new job and all. But I did get to go and see Random Johnson, and then I got to hang out with the drummer at his house. Awesome! Then we were all drinkin a lil bit, and "some guy" fell asleep. You know who you are. Falling asleep before anyone even decides they are tired was considered a crime in Highschool, a misdemeanor in college, and only a teabagging now that we are out in the real world. Since Eckler mentioned my posts can be pretty shallow with no real content, I will attempt to update you on my life. Today I got a haircut, and I ate a burrito. Yesterday, I had sushi, but no haircut. Before that I can't remember so I guess thats all as far as my life goes.

Time to blog. Seems to me I can sum up any one of my friend's life during a one year span into 12 seperate posts. Are we all really that lame? Eckler does a good job but the rest of us need to work on posting because we don't see each other that often. Next thing you know I will bump into one of you in a movie theater some day and say, "Oh my God, I haven't seen you in soooo long. How are you?" And they will say "Good. I have two kids now and all I do is work. We are just about to go into this movie, but it was great to see you." And I will say "Ya, you too. Take care" and I will think back and say to myself, "How did we ever drift apart? Oh ya, he/she stopped blogging and we never talked again. RICE CRISPY TREAT ICE CREAM. Mmmm. Doesn't that sound good. If only I could patent something that is trademarked already. I closed a loan today that has been kinda like herpes, hangin around causing me discomfort all the time. So now life doesn't suck anymore. Now it is just ok. The Depression alert level has gone down to orange. Sorry to have elevated it last post and not had a nervous breakdown. The crap I complain about is soooo stupid compared to real problems that people have to face all over the world. It's not like I will ever have to worry about my period starting while I'm stripping during amateur night, or that an old man will touch me like the Catholics have to worry about. And I don't have the stress that someone may find the body I so cleverly cut to pieces, sealed into glad lock freezer bags and packed into the stuffed black bear I bought from an old drunk man in Nova Scotia last year. It's time to be healthy. I have been on the tightrope of sickness for some time now. Poor Amber is miserable. Everyone is sick, which you wouldn't think with all the time spent in Vegas. Here is my advice, if you have been sick for more then 3 days then consult Sammit. If he can't help, seek a licensed doctor. They can't cure a cold or the flu, but they can provide chemicals that make you feel better. And if you don't use them you can always sell them. So, that is all the advice I have for you today. Oh, and don't mix Jack Daniels with Scotch.

Another weekend, another chance to Rock! So who is going to be in town? Nobody would drive by my house ever again. "Go left on Inkster, you will pass one light, then look for a giant statue of a naked fat lady on a bull on the right. We are back from the wild, and sorry to everyone for my bad directions. It may have made it a little harder for you to get there, but think how bad I got it. For now on, nobody will ever trust my directions again. That kinda sucks, but is well desereved. And to all that said they would come up and didn't, you suck. I should post your names and your lame ass reasons so that everyone who did go can laugh at your excuses. Instead I could go into a polictal rant, but it wouldn't matter. Nothing I can say no matter how right or well thought out or intelligent it is, it won't make a difference. If I said, "Bush sucks cause..." and you disagree and still vote Bush, it's because you are not smart enough to understand what I said. That's right, this is my blog and I am the all mighty know everything GOD! And if you agree with my statement that Bush sucks then I am wasting my time saying anything anyway. So, lets talk about space monkeys. Do you think there are any dead, undecomposed monkeys in space because of some experiment we did in the past? And do aliens think they are just some sort of litter or garbage that earthlings leave lying around space? Hmm. What if one came back into our atmosphere and didn't burn entirely up, would we study it and think it was an alien? And then finally realize it was a monkey we put there in the first place. Do you think I'm stoned right now? Am I asking too many questions when it's not really possible for you to answer me? Well I'm not stoned, just watching Brian play the new GTA. One good thing about living with someone who loves video games more than an 8 year old boy living in an upper class neighborhood is we always have the newest games. And speaking of nothing important at all, have I talked about poop on this blog yet? I don't think I have. So, look for it in a blog coming soon!

Good question. First take 75 north. As soon as you cross the bridge into the U.P you will look for hwy 2. Take 2 West for about 65.5 miles. You will be on 2 for over an hour, about an hour and 20 min depending on how fast or slow you drive. Then look for MI-77, and take that North. Go North on MI-77 for about 10-11 miles to "Manisique River Road". Take a right, or east on River Rd. River road is curvy and dirt, so be careful. After about 5-6 miles, start looking for a opening on the left side of the road that looks like you could turn around. It's just a widening of the road on the left side, right after that is my driveway. It is very hard to see so go slow. It is only an opening in the woods. I will put something out so that everyone can see when I get there. Not sure what it will be yet, but it will be something that doesn't grow natually in the woods so you will figure it out.
So recap, North on 75, West on Hwy 2, North on MI-77, East on River Rd. Left into my cabin. Easy!

Could you tell that I was singing Staind? Yay for new support system for blog, it's fast again. Well Chicago was F'n sweet, maybe because I maintained a buzz for at least 12 hours and didn't try to fight anyone. Got to see some old friends and got to make some new ones. I professed my love to Scott, and told a woman she was beautiful just like my mother. The whole night was fun and no bad stuff happend to anyone that I'm aware of so it was a success. I'm not sure if the halloweenie thing is still on or not, but if you want to hang out that weekend at my house and dress up, thats still cool with me. I've just been informed that yada yada is a jewish term. Is that true? Blah blah blah is Christian I'm sure, but yada yada? Please inform me, I don't want my ignorance to piss of any jews.

What is going on with blogspot? I would have been keeping up to date with my blog, but I don't have the patience to wait for this site to come up, "But I want my buffalo now!" Anyhoo, I have a house. Come see it, come visit and bring food! We are hungry! Brian, Chad and I, oh and Heika, are roomies now. Almost lost Heika in the city of Redford yesterday. Looked for her for 3+ hours and turns out she was fenced in someone elses backyard. If you want more details just ask Chad. So, who is going to Chicago this weekend? Who is going to the cabin? Who is going to come over to my house on the 29th for a makeshift halloween party? Who is going to go crazy because they haven't had a weekend to themself for months? Sorry, but I just LOVE to see you all as much as possible. Well, maybe not all of you. Did you hear about tailgating at MSU? Might not be able to drink anymore. Why the FUCK would we drive to East Lansing if we can't get super wasted by 10AM? I mean other than Christmas and church, when can you drink that early in morning?

As of 2:30 on Friday I will be a homeowner. So Saturday I will be moving my stuff. I'm not sure if I was more excited to tell everyone its mine, or if I was more exccited to post that cool picture. Either way I'm excited.

Haven't heard from the bank yet, but I plan on closing this week. Garrett and Amy are married which resulted in me getting to eat burritos at a wedding. Not only that, but most of UlessQ got to play a song as well. That's right Mike, you missed it. I don't think we F'd it up that bad either. It was a good time and somehow I escaped the embarassment of getting drunk and grabbing people's asses. In fact, I was sober all night. Who would have thought? We then followed up such a night with a visit to the park on Sunday. It was beautiful and I learned a little bit about nature thanks to the informative signs placed along the trails. Next week I'm going to be making a list of people going up north so if you haven't told me that you are going for sure yet, please do so by then. I will then post the list on this blog in a fashion that resembles the varsity football cut list. So check back soon to see if you "made the team"! Don't worry, there won't be much hazing.

I'm having problems with my loan. Can I buy this house right now, no strings attached with no problems? YES. Will my payment be under $2,000? BARELY. So why is it taking so long? Because the good loans are for people with a steady good income with great credit. Am I one of those people? NOT REALLY. So bank after bank I take shots at and bank after bank they come up with reasons not to help me. So rather then close right now with a high ass payment, I keep postponing for a decent payment. But soon i'm going to break down and get a loan with a payment around 2k. Then my happiness will be gone and life will suck ass because i won't sleep anymore on account of my 4 jobs. I will keep you posted on whether I am a homeowner or just a homo.

Most of you know already, so this is just a reminder, some of you don't so hey, guess what. OCTOBER 22 begins the "Screw the Real World Weekend". I'm not talking about the show on MTV. I'm talking about the "work my ass off for money that pays for things I don't need and sometimes don't want" real world. The gossip filled,need more money, I'm too tired, printer is jammed, coffee drinking, taxed to the max, 40 hours at least, dry-cleaning, white out stroking, no summer break, parents don't pay for food or cook anymore, bills, bills, bills, I'm getting fat, I'm going bald, go out on Wednesday night?, my knee hurts, my back hurts, my neck hurts, my pride hurts, world!!! Ever since my voicemail started with a "Thanks for calling so and so" instead of "This is Derek leave a message", my life has been missing a youthful side. So lets leave the lower peninsula to the zombies and go up to a place untouched by the "Real World" where the only reminders of civilization will be beer and cigarettes. Where nudity is ok, and a group of white people rapping around a fire doesn't seem too out of place. Some place that it's ok to drink when you wake up, and it's ok to cook your steak on the ground. Where the only reading material is playboy or penthouse and the closest hospital is hours away. Everyone is invited from single guys and girls to couples. It doesn't matter if you shovel all day, or sit in a cubicle, it's time to get out of the real world. Who needs constant electricity anyway? Bring your cell phones to really feel the separation from home, cause they won't work. There is plenty of places to sleep and poop. If you have any questions just call me. I will post directions on my blog closer to the time of departure. Most of you got emails saying exactly all of the above, this is for you who didn't or those who have forgotten. By the way, its the little red roof in the picture. So, that goes to show that there aren't any 7-11 stores or CVS's near by.

Ok ok that last picture wasn't my house. Thanks to everyone that pointed that out. Here is a real picture, mine is the top one closer to the bridge. That's me with the blue hair and the cape. Isn't the stream beautiful. I'm really going to love living there. Sure there is no driveway or garage, but I have a treasure chest in the front yard and I don't even know what is inside it. Isn't that exciting?

You like? I got a good deal, thought I would put up a picture for all to see. Need to sell the car to make sure I can afford it so if anyone wants to buy a camaro let me know. I figure its worth around $70,000 so I'll let it go for around $9,000. Or less. Anyone watching Monday night football? It's nice to see football again but I am more into watching the Lions. I'll have a Lions game party at the new house after I own it, unless I can figure out a way to get inside before I own it and then we can make a mess and I won't have to clean it up.

And on Sept. 15 I will move in. So October 22 weekend looks like a good up north weekend for everyone who will attend. Please look at the calander and tell me if that weekend looks good or not. Its the 4th weekend of 5. The 5th will obviously be Halloween so that weekend is out. The weather should be outstanding in late october up there with no bugs, but still kinda warm in the daytime. Leave a post or email or call me and let me know if you think thats a good time to go, if you have shit to do just say so and maybe we will move it back a week. OK, Bought me a house!

Kinda, waiting for them to accept the offer. They are asking $147,000, I offered $145,000, so we'll see. I am sure they will take it. But no above ground pool because it's not the house I put a picture of below. Unfortunatly i don't have a picture yet, so when I own it I will take a picture and post it for all to see. It is on the Redford-Livonia border, and it's close to I-96. There are many strip clubs with in 10 minutes so there is plenty to do at night. Or during the day now that I think of it. I am buying it because it has a grill with a gas line from the house, so you never run out of gas. That IS the only reason I want the house. Oh and at work I am trying to secure R. Wallace's loan on a 8.4 million dollar house. He is buying it right now and I am trying to get the deal since he used a realtor at my office. Some old lady at Century 21 who I am willing to sleep with if she can get this deal for me. Quick reference for ya, if I made 1 point on the deal, that would equal $40,000 in my pocket. I can live with that. Don't think I will get it because I am too young, white, non jewish, and I have a big nose, but who knows?

Everyday, "we have intelligence that says they are preparing to strike America". No shit! They hate us, and so help me GOD they better not postpone the election for "our saftey" or I'll...um...well... I'll sit back and take it like every other American. Damn, we should stop giving so much attention to it. But on the other hand, fear sells well. So everyday my home page will have "breaking news" on how I'm in danger. Statistically speaking, I'm in no danger. Better chance getting hurt driving today then getting bombed. "Breaking news" you can get hurt driving!!!! Don't get in your cars. Silverware can be sharp. No more eating for anyone! Sporks are the new utensil of choice. Oh wait, that's already the case in airports and on planes. Damn, even trying to make fun of it unveils how crazy it has become. So i just keep coming here and typing stuff? Um, well our birds flew away. It was sad, I wasn't ready for them to go. Actually Amber forced their first flight with fear. She was trying to pet them, and they took flight for the first time never to return, leaving their nest and many turds behind. I'll get a new picture of them up soon. I am watching Simple Life 2, it's kinda like Saved by the Bell, in that they both are not good shows, but if you come across them, you watch them and you don't why. I'm looking at houses again this week, hopefully I catch a good one. I'll let everyone know if I find one. The big fun weekend at the cabin will be in October.
